1. What's your story? Where are you from?

Hello I'm Kunye, a painter from Korea. I draw pictures by gathering various colors in sweet and bitter imagination. I'm working on personal drawings, graphics, and illustrations. 안녕하세요 한국에서 그림작업을 하고 있는 근예 입니다. 달콤 씁쓸한 상상 속 다양한 색을 모아 그림을 그려요. 개인 그림 작업과 그래픽, 일러스트 작업을 하고 있어요.

2. Tell us about your aesthetic.

I am drawing various ideas and imaginations that open up freely in my way. When I concentrate on what I am thinking now, what I want to see and what emotional changes are showing up, I can look and see myself in real innocence. Then, rather than the everyday situation of reality, various imaginations come to life naturally, and the thoughts are connected organically and finished with interesting paintings. 저는 자유롭게 펼쳐지는 다양한 생각, 상상들을 제 방식대로 그려나가고 있어요. 지금 내가 무슨 생각을 하는지 뭘 원하는지 어떤 감정의 변화가 나타나고 있는지에 대해 집중하게 되면, 아무런 꾸밈없는 진짜 내면의 나 자신을 바라보고 대화 할 수 있게 돼요. 그러면 현실 속의 일상적인 상황보다는 상상 속 다양한 생각들이 자연스럽게 떠오르게 되고 그 생각들이 유기적으로 연결되어 흥미로운 그림으로 완성되죠.

3. What is your favourite medium and why?

I like the sense of touch of conte, colored pencil and natural brush. Each of the tools we use are different in character. Also, depending on how I use the tool, the feeling of the picture comes out quite differently. It is good because I can express my feelings as natural as possible. 콘테, 색연필, 자연스러운 붓의 터치감을 좋아해요. 표현하는 도구들마다의 성격이 다 달라요. 또 그 도구를 사용하는 방법에 따라서도 그림의 느낌은 전혀 다르게 나오죠. 제 기분과 감정을 최대한 자연스럽게 표현할 수 있어서 좋아요.

4. What is your artistic process like?

I usually work without a sketch. Rather than start with a perfect sketch, I draw everything in my head or everything in my imagination like graffiti. Then, the idea of floating in the head is combined into a picture. I feel like I have received an unexpected gift when I am satisfied with the process. 저는 보통 밑그림 없이 작업을 진행하는 편이에요. 완벽한 스케치에서 작업을 시작하기보다는 머릿속에 떠오르는 것들, 감정을 표현할 수 있는 사물이나 상상 속의 무언가를 낙서하듯 그리면서 진행해나가요. 그러다 보면 떠다니는 아이디어들이 하나로 조합되어 그림이 완성되죠. 이러한 과정을 거쳐 만족스러운 작업이 완성되었을 때는 뜻밖의 선물을 받은 듯한 기분이 들어요.

5. Who and/or what inspires your work?

My favorite movie's Scene and character, music, dreamy scenes every night. 좋아하는 영화 속 사물이나 인물, 음악, 매일밤 꾸는 꿈속의 장면들

6. What role does art play in your life? How does it change the way you view the world?

I think that everything I see and hear and feel every day is art. In it I absorb my favorite things and express them in my way. A lot of everyday art gives me fresh inspiration and endless stimulation. So I always have curiosity and anticipation. 매일 다른 것을 보고 듣고 느끼는 모든 것이 예술이라고 생각해요. 그 속에서 저는 제가 좋아하는 것들을 흡수하고 제 방식의 그림으로 표현하죠. 수 많은 일상 속 예술은 저에게 신선한 영감과 끝없는 자극을 줘요. 그래서 늘 호기심과 기대감을 가지게 만들죠.

7. Where did you study?

I graduated from Pukyong National University, Visual Design Department, in Busan. At the university, I learned the overall design. Painting is learning a lot from the people I meet with the environment I grew up in. 부산에 있는 부경대학교 시각디자인과를 졸업했어요. 대학교에서는 전반적인 디자인을 배웠다면 그림은 자라온 환경, 만나는 사람들, 등 수많은 것들에서 배워가고 있어요.

8. Where do you see yourself in five years?

I will try to draw more stories through dialogue with myself as I am now. I'd like to create a picture book with stories and communicate with more people. 지금처럼 계속 나와의 대화를 통해 더 많은 이야기를 그려내기 위해 노력할거에요. 그림책을 만들어 더 많은 사람들과 소통하는 모습도 그려보고 있어요.

9. What about in ten?

I will travel to many fantastic places all over the world and draw a better picture. Above all, I hope to be a happy person who keeps on pursuing new dreams. 지구 곳곳의 수 많은 환상적인 곳들을 여행하며 더 멋진 작업을 할거에요. 무엇보다도 계속 새로운 꿈을 쫒는 행복한 사람이길 소망해요.

10. What do you hope to achieve with your art?

I want to talk to many people through my drawings. It would be better if they could get happiness, and comfort in my drawing. Personally, I want to make a work that I can admit myself. And I want to get satisfaction and fulfilment from it. 제 그림을 통해 많은 사람들과 이야기 나누고 싶어요. 그 속에서 공감과 행복, 위로를 얻을 수 있다면 더 좋을 것 같아요. 개인적으로는 지속적인 작업을 통해 스스로 인정할 수 있는 작품을 만들어 그 속에서 만족감과 성취감을 얻고 싶어요

11. Now, tell us a little more about you as a person: what is your favourite food?

A sweet cafe latte with two syrups, freshly fried chicken, a homemade cake with lots of honey and peanuts, And all kinds of chocolate in the world! 시럽을 두번 넣은 달달한 카페라떼, 갓 튀긴 치킨, 꿀과 땅콩이 듬뿍 든 호떡, 그리고 세상의 모든 종류의 초콜렛!

Ryu Sihua's "Traveler of The Earth planet" 류시화 시인의 "지구별여행자"

13. Favourite genre of music?

Alternative Rock, Jazz Folk I often listen to the songs recently. 얼터너티브 락, 재즈 포크 최근에는 의 노래에 빠져있어요.

14. What are your hobbies?

Yoga, walk around the town with music, watching movies at home 요가, 음악 들으며 동네산책, 집에서 과자 먹으며 영화감상하기!

15. If you weren't an artist, what would you be?

When I was a kid, An astronomer was a dream. But I gave up early because I was not interested in mathematics. I want to be a yoga teacher or a travel writer. 어렸을때는 별관측자가 꿈이었는데 수학을 못해서 일찌감치 포기했던 기억이 나요. 요가선생님이나 여행작가도 되보고 싶어요.
