1. What's your story? Where are you from?

Hi, I’m Rini. I am an illustrator who draws digital illustrations in Korea.  I am currently a freelancer and I usually draw my personal paintings on my iPad or Photoshop. Also, I am hosting my online drawing class in many countries including the U.S. and Korea! You can learn how to draw from me anytime, anywhere using your smartphone app, iPad, or computer. μ•ˆλ…•ν•˜μ„Έμš”, μ €λŠ” ν•œκ΅μ—μ„œ ν™œλ™ν•˜κ³  μžˆλŠ” μΌλŸ¬μŠ€νŠΈλ ˆμ΄ν„° λ¦¬λ‹ˆμž…λ‹ˆλ‹€. ν˜„μž¬ ν”„λ¦¬λžœμ„œλ‘œ ν™œλ™ν•˜κ³  있으며 개인적인 κ·Έλ¦Ό μž‘μ—…μ€ 주둜 μ•„μ΄νŒ¨λ“œ ν˜Ήμ€ ν¬ν† μƒ΅μœΌλ‘œ 그리고 μžˆμ–΄μš”. 그리고 λ―Έκ΅κ³Ό ν•œκ΅ λ“± μ—¬λŸ¬ λ‚˜λΌμ—μ„œ μ €μ˜ 온라인 λ“œλ‘œμž‰ 클래슀λ₯Ό μ§„ν–‰ν•˜κ³  μžˆμ–΄μš”. μ–Έμ œ μ–΄λ””μ„œλ“  μŠ€λ§ˆνŠΈν°μ΄λ‚˜ μ•„μ΄νŒ¨λ“œ, 컴퓨터 등을 ν†΅ν•΄μ„œ 저와 ν•¨κ»˜ λ“œλ‘œμž‰μ„ ν•  수 있죠. 2. Tell us about your aesthetic.

I like to express as if it's a mixture of hand and digital drawing. Feels like it brings the benefits of hand and digital drawing. The vague boundary seems to create a unique atmosphere in my pieces. And I like dreamy colors! When I color my painting with purple or pink, it feels like I’m in a fairy tale. μ €λŠ” μˆ˜μž‘μ—… λŠλ‚Œκ³Ό 디지털 λŠλ‚Œμ΄ μ• λ§€ν•˜κ²Œ μ„žμΈ λ“― ν‘œν˜„ν•˜λŠ” κ±Έ μ’‹μ•„ν•΄μš”.

3. What is your favourite medium and why?

My favorite medium these days is iPad Procreate. Originally, I used to use a tablet to draw pictures with Photoshop. But from the moment I started using my iPad, it was so convenient! These days, the functions of the Procreate app are as good as Photoshop, so there's no problem in painting a variety of pictures. It's also portable. μš”μ¦˜ κ°€μž₯ μ’‹μ•„ν•˜λŠ” λ„κ΅¬λŠ” μ•„μ΄νŒ¨λ“œ ν”„λ‘œν¬λ¦¬μ—μ΄νŠΈμ˜ˆμš”. μ›λž˜λŠ” 타블렛을 μ‚¬μš©ν•˜μ—¬ ν¬ν† μƒ΅μœΌλ‘œ 그림을 그리곀 ν–ˆμ–΄μš”. 근데 μ•„μ΄νŒ¨λ“œλ₯Ό μ΄μš©ν•˜κ²Œ 된 μˆœκ°„λΆ€ν„° λ„ˆλ¬΄λ‚˜ νŽΈλ¦¬ν•˜λ”λΌκ³ μš”! μš”μ¦˜μ€ ν”„λ‘œν¬λ¦¬μ—μ΄νŠΈ μ•±μ˜ κΈ°λŠ₯도 포토샡 λͺ»μ§€ μ•Šκ²Œ 잘 λ§Œλ“€μ–΄μ Έμ„œ, λ‹€μ–‘ν•œ 그림을 κ·Έλ¦¬λŠ” 데에 μ „ν˜€ λ¬Έμ œκ°€ μ—†μ–΄μš”. νœ΄λŒ€μ„± λ˜ν•œ μ’‹κ³ μš”.

4. What is your artistic process like?

First, I get inspiration for what I'm going to draw. Looking at my favorite photo materials and colors, I think about what to draw. Then, when I feel confident about what to draw, I start to sketch rough and draw with a clean line. And then I color it, and finally, I adjust it to the feeling I want, and I'm done with one picture.

5. Who and/or what inspires your work?

I often get inspired by a very trivial routine. While walking down the street, drinking coffee, or visiting a certain place, I suddenly think it would be nice to use this experience and express it in my pictures. I'm trying to make sure that people who see my paintings can recall memories like mine μ €λŠ” μ•„μ£Ό μ‚¬μ†Œν•œ μΌμƒμ—μ„œ μ˜κ°μ„ μ–»κ³€ ν•΄μš”.

6. What role does art play in your life? How does it change the way you view the world?

I'm an artist, but I'm more rational than emotional. In reality, I was easily afraid of challenging something. There were many times when I couldn't do what I wanted to do because I was so focused on the eyes of others. But gradually, as I draw what I want to draw, the way I think has changed a lot these days. Whatever I do, I have the confidence to challenge myself without being disturbed by others' eyes. Like when I draw, I have the courage to show myself as I am without wrapping myself up. λ‚¨λ“€μ˜ μ‹œμ„ μ„ μ‹ κ²½ μ“°λŠλΌ ν•˜κ³  싢은 κ±Έ λͺ»ν•  λ•Œλ„ λ§Žμ•˜μ–΄μš”. Where did you study?

I graduated from Konkuk University in Seoul, Korea, and majoring in apparel design. Actually, I wasn't very interested in my major when I was in college. When I was young, I didn't know about many design majors, so I chose fashion because I felt most familiar. But while studying that major in college, I knew that I don’t like to design myself. So, after graduating from college, I focused on drawing, which I liked since I was a kid, and now I'm an illustrator. μ €λŠ” μ„œμšΈμ— μžˆλŠ” κ±΄κ΅λŒ€ν•™κ΅ μ˜μƒλ””μžμΈ ν•™κ³Όλ₯Ό μ‘Έμ—…ν–ˆμ–΄μš”. 사싀 λŒ€ν•™κ΅λ₯Ό λ‹€λ‹ˆλ©΄μ„œ 전곡에 큰 ν₯λ―Έκ°€ μžˆμ§„ μ•Šμ•˜μ–΄μš”. 어렸을 λ•Œ μ—¬λŸ¬ λ””μžμΈ 전곡에 λŒ€ν•΄ λͺ¨λ₯΄λŠ” μƒνƒœμ—μ„œ, λ¬΄μž‘μ • νŒ¨μ…˜μ΄ κ°€μž₯ μΉœμˆ™ν•˜κ²Œ λŠκ»΄μ Έμ„œ κ·Έ 전곡을 μ„ νƒν–ˆμ–΄μš”. 근데 λŒ€ν•™μ—μ„œ κ·Έ 전곡을 κ³΅λΆ€ν•˜λ‹€ λ³΄λ‹ˆκΉŒ μ €λŠ” μ˜·μ„ κ³¨λΌμ„œ μž…λŠ” κ±Έ μ’‹μ•„ν•˜μ§€, 직접 λ””μžμΈ ν•˜λŠ” 건 μž¬λ―Έκ°€ μ—†λ”λΌκ³ μš”. κ·Έλž˜μ„œ λŒ€ν•™μ„ μ‘Έμ—…ν•œ ν›„μ—λŠ”, μ›λž˜ μ œκ°€ 어렸을 λ•ŒλΆ€ν„° μ’‹μ•„ν–ˆλ˜ β€˜κ·Έλ¦Ό 그리기’에 μ§‘μ€‘ν•΄μ„œ ν˜„μž¬λŠ” μΌλŸ¬μŠ€νŠΈλ ˆμ΄ν„°λ‘œ 지내고 μžˆμ–΄μš”.

8. Where do you see yourself in five years?

Wouldn't I be drawing somewhere? Of course, I don't know what's going to happen, so I'm not sure if I'm drawing in the future. New possibilities are always open. I don't bother to lock myself in one place. If there is a new challenge, I will do my best for it. μ €μ—κ²Œ μƒˆλ‘œμš΄ λ‹€λ₯Έ κ°€λŠ₯성이 열릴 μˆ˜λ„ μžˆλŠ” κ±°λ‹ˆκΉŒμš”.

10. What do you hope to achieve with your art?

I don't want anything grand. I'm fully satisfied with every aspect of my life now. But I hope someday more people will remember my paintings.
