1. What’s your story? Where are you from?Hello, I'm Summer. I am a freelance illustrator working in Korea. I was influenced by my mother, who was a fashion designer, so I liked fashion and drawing since I was young. I started painting when I was young, and after I became an adult, I have been doing both painting and digital work together. I have been with paintings for a long time and will continue to do so. 2. Tell us about your aesthetic.I capture lovely emotions big and small in my daily life. I love fashion. I love travelling. I remember those moments and capture them with pictures. Also, I express my own colorful colors and often draw patterns such as clothes, nature, plants, flowers, cats, and women. 3. What is your favourite medium and why?My favorite medium is acrylic gouache. Acrylic gouache can naturally leave brush touches and express vivid colors through water control. Digital work is also very attractive, but I prefer to paint while feeling it with my whole body. 4. What is your artistic process like?I like travelling and I love fashion, so I look for it a lot. I take pictures of the moments and get ideas through the trip. And I constantly look for information about my favorite fashion and get ideas from movies and books. 5. Who and/or what inspires your work?I get inspiration from what I see and feel. I like travelling, especially water, since I was young. That's why I like the sea the most and I like the summer when I can go into the sea the most. Summer inspires me a lot. Summer is the best season for me because I like fashion as well as the sea. I like cool dresses that I can wear in summer the most and various patterns and colors inspire me a lot. My favorite artist is Henri Matisse. 6. What role does art play in your life? How does it change the way you view the world?Art makes me alive. I get to observe and feel everything I see and feel in more detail. Everything, big and small, is precious to me and spreads my imagination. 7. Where did you study?I majored in Western painting and majored in visual design at Gangnam University. Also, I worked in various fields such as graphic design, font design, and editing design. 8. Where do you see yourself in five years?I think he is an illustrator who works all over the world. I will continue to draw as I do now, and I want to collaborate with many brands, exhibitions, and experience various things not only in Korea but also around the world. 9. What about in ten?I think I'll have my own studio and do more various works. If I have my own space, I think I can do bigger work. 10. What do you hope to achieve with your art?I want to be a brand myself. The range of brands has expanded a lot these days. I hope my paintings become a brand and more people will know my paintings. 11. Now, tell us a little more about you as a person: what is your favourite food?Tteokbokki, gimbap. This is Korean soul food. 12. Favourite book?Essay. The book I read recently is Yoo Ji-hye's Easy Heaven. I can feel things that I haven't experienced through books. 13. Favourite genre of music?A ballad, a quiet song. 14. What are your hobbies?Watching fashion YouTubers, reading books 15. If you weren’t an artist, what would you be?I envy people who write well and think they are cool. If I didn't become an artist, I would like to become a writer. Or an actor...? I have wanted to do a lot of things since I was young, but I want to carry out the lives of many people through acting. Comments are closed.
