Instagram: @carolaharo 1. What’s your story? Where are you from?Hi! My name is Carolina Haro, and I am a Mexican Designer and Illustrator. Currently, I am living in Germany while I study for my master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction. I studied Industrial Design in my bachelors but I have always been more inclined to Visual Design. 2. Tell us about your aesthetic.Female role models, feminine colors and bold patterns are the three main elements that I’d use to describe my aesthetic. 3. What is your favourite medium and why?I love traditional mediums like watercolors and colored pencils but I think lately digital illustration on procreate is the one that adapts better to my lifestyle. 4. What is your artistic process like? When I make a digital illustration, I usually do a general sketch first just to see the shapes and figures. Then I define the line details. After this, I continue applying colors and lastly, giving final touches and fixing small mistakes. 5. Who and/or what inspires your work?Women are my main subject of inspiration, also colorful and playful color palettes. 6. What role does art play in your life? How does it change the way you view the world?Art is my way to express myself and also the way I can relax and disconnect from everything around me when I need it. 7. Where did you study?I did my bachelors at the University of Guadalajara in Mexico. I also spent some time in Ireland during my studies at the National University of Ireland. Currently, I study in Germany at the University of Siegen. 8. Where do you see yourself in five years?I see myself working in socially focused design projects that promote women equality. 9. What about in ten?I haven’t pictured myself that far, I am a very apprehensive person and once I plan something it's hard for me to let go of the idea of not having it. So this last year has taught me to let myself be surprised by what life brings you. 10. What do you hope to achieve with your art?I'd like to encourage women to empower themselves and to empower other women too. 11. Now, tell us a little more about you as a person: what is your favourite food?Mexican food! That’s what I miss the most when I am outside of my country. 12. Favourite book? The girl with the dragon tattoo the trilogy. 13. Favourite genre of music?Folk indie rock 14. What are your hobbies?I love going out for dinner to restaurants with my partner, also travelling and cooking. 15. If you weren’t an artist, what would you be?To be honest, it has always been pretty clear to me since I was a child that I would do something related to Art/ Design, so I haven’t thought about a different profession that much.
