1. What's your story? Where are you from?

My name is Irina. I am from Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan. It located in the southwest Russia.

2. Tell us about your aesthetic.

My aesthetic – is simplified forms, color combinations and textures. I like to mix digital and handcraft to make my work more alive and stylized.

3. What is your favourite medium and why?

Most of my work is done by Photoshop on graphic tablet. But for sketches I prefer graphite and colored pencils. I love their texure.

4. What is your artistic process like?

First I think a lot about that I want to draw. Later then the picture in my head was formed I make a rough sketch. Then I draw it in Photoshop. But if the picture did not appear in my imagination, nothing will turn out.

5. Who and/or what inspires your work?

I am inspired by moments of everyday life. I call it «The wonders of ordinary days». Every day happen a lot of good things and I draw it to save them in memory. Also I get inspiration from the people that surround me.

6. What role does art play in your life? How does it change the way you view the world?

By art I express myself and my vision of the world. I feel most comfortable and happy then I draw something. It is like meditation to me.

7. Where did you study?

I studied at the Bashkir State Pedagogical University. My profession is graphic designer.

8. Where do you see yourself in five years?

I want to continue to develop in illustration, working a freelance full time. I hope I will illustrate a book of my own work.

9. What about in ten?

I did not look so far away. Hopefully I will have a family and favorite work.

10. What do you hope to achieve with your art?

I want to bring positive emotions to the audience, to inspire them to bring colors in everyday life.

11. Now, tell us a little more about you as a person: what is your favourite food?

Asian noodles

12. Favourite book?

I have several favorite books: Harry Potter, A little Prince, Three in a boat apart from a dog. I read them several times

13. Favourite genre of music?

Indie music. My favorite singer for today is Vance Joy.

14. What are your hobbies?

I spend all my free time on drawing and reading about illustration. Also I like swimming in the pool.

15. If you weren't an artist, what would you be?

Teacher of Russian language and literature.
