1. What’s your story? Where are you from?

Hi, I am Yutong, from China. My undergraduate major is Administrative management. I love painting and Japanese illustration, so I came to Tokyo for further study in 2019. Now, I am a graduate student in the field of professional illustration design.

我叫Yutong，来自中国。大学读的行政管理专业，因为喜欢画画，喜欢日本的插画风格, 2019年大学毕业后来东京留学，目前是设计专业插画方向研究生。

2. Tell us about your aesthetic.

I express my emotions through different kinds of media.

通过不同媒介的质感传递出自己的情绪。

3. What is your favourite medium and why?

I’d love to paint with mixed media, such as gouache, oil pastel, color lead etc because these painting materials can produce soft textures, conveying the tenderness and beautiful moments that I feel in my life.

我喜欢用水粉丙烯gouache，油画棒oil pastel，彩铅等综合媒介作画，因为这些画材能够产生温柔的质感，传递出我所感受到的生活里的温柔和美好的片刻。

4. What is your artistic process like?

My creative materials come from my daily life. I often use the camera to record the scenery that impresses me in my life. Before drawing them on paper, I will draw the draft on my iPad first, and keep modifying the composition and color schemes until I am satisfied.

我会把日常生活中打动我的风景用相机记录下来，作为自己的创作素材。然后在创作的时候，先在iPad上画草稿，把构图和配色修改到自己满意后再在纸上画下来。

5. Who and/or what inspires your work?

For example, the scenery that touches me in my life, the flowers and plants on the roadside. These are often the sources of my inspiration.

生活中打动我风景，路边的花花草草经常是我的创作灵感来源。

6. What role does art play in your life? How does it change the way you view the world?

Painting is a channel to show my inner emotions.

My work is mainly about landscapes. In addition to caring about the beautiful scenery in my journey, I also begin to pay attention to the unnoticed ordinary scenery around me.

画画是展现我自己内在的感性的一个渠道。

因为我的作品以风景题材为主，除了旅行看到的风景之外，我也会开始留意身边一些普通的不引人注意的景色。

7. Where did you study?

This year, I started to learn illustration at a university in Tokyo, and before that, I taught myself.

今年开始在东京的设计专业的学校学习插画，在这之前都是自学。

8. Where do you see yourself in five years?

To be a freelance illustrator and I hope more and more people can see my work.

成为自由插画师，让更多的人看到我的作品。

9. What about in ten?

Try to have more different forms of expression and use some media that I have never used before to create my works.

挑战更多不同的表现形式，尝试自己没接触过的媒介做作品。

10. What do you hope to achieve with your art?

I hope that the goodness in my daily life can be felt by others as well through my works.

我感受到的生活里的美好希望通过我的作品能够让观者也感受到/传递给观者。

11. Now, tell us a little more about you as a person: what is your favourite food?

Chinese cuisine!

中华料理!

12. Favourite book?

There is no specific. Such as painting albums, picture books etc..

没有特定的。但喜欢书都是画集、绘本等等。

13. Favourite genre of music?

Jpop.

14. What are your hobbies?

Watching Japanese dramas, Japanese entertainment shows, and travelling all over Japan.

看日剧，看日本综艺，在日本各地旅行。

15. If you weren’t an artist, what would you be?

I can’t think of anything other than painting.

除了画画我想不到还能做什么。
