Instagram: @pajac_ 1. What’s your story? Where are you from?I'm an illustrator from Serbia. I work as a graphic designer and I do illustrations in my free time. I enjoy both graphic design and illustration and I always feel like one is balancing the other. 2. Tell us about your aesthetic.I love playing with light and colors. Shiny details and cool color combos amaze me. I love distorting forms and questioning everything along the way. 3. What is your favourite medium and why?I do a lot of digital work, I enjoy it because it gives me a lot of freedom to express myself. Also, I love the possibility to edit the work along the way. I do a lot of hand drawing, but I mostly keep it in the form of a private sketchbook. 4. What is your artistic process like?First, I draw and sketch things in my sketchbook, then I scribble and draw out several ideas and later decide which ones I'd like to turn into digital illustrations. I like to sketch in small squares around 4x4 cm and make many variations before I continue. Afterwards I vectorise it in Illustrator and later add more details in Photoshop. 5. Who and/or what inspires your work?I'm often inspired by the process of drawing itself. Also, music and movies are the things I love to go to when I feel like I'm having some sort of creative block. Whenever I'm frustrated (often) with how things are going, I tend to turn to other art forms such as music, painting... 6. What role does art play in your life? How does it change the way you view the world?I feel like I'm in a meditative state when I work. I lose myself and it calms me down. I feel like it's a great way to process your feelings and situations happening around you. For me, it's like a kind of psychotherapy, a way to keep myself grounded. 7. Where did you study?I got my degree in Graphic design in Belgrade. 8. Where do you see yourself in five years?I try not to plan things out too much, but hopefully still learning and playing around with art. I love learning new softwares and experimenting too. 9. What about in ten?Hopefully still playing around and enjoying art, for now that's the only long term goal. Also, perhaps more secure in everything I do as I tend to question myself too much at times. 10. What do you hope to achieve with your art?World peace. No, I'm kidding, not saying it wouldn't be nice, but I don't know if my illustrations would go that far, they are just some bunch of monsters and weird stuff put together as an observation of the world around me. I just hope to enjoy the process of making it and if someone likes any part of it in any way, I'm happy. 11. Now, tell us a little more about you as a person: what is your favourite food?Definitely sweets. I'd sell my soul for a lifetime supply of any kind of sweets. I love everything with chocolate. 12. Favourite book?I love the work of Hermann Hesse. "Demian" is perhaps one of my favorites. 13. Favourite genre of music?Oh I listen to all kinds of music, I can go from Ambient to Indie rock in minutes. These days, I'm listening to Brian Eno a lot. 14. What are your hobbies?Well besides drawing, I love baking, but I'm still enjoying the title of the bad baker for now. 15. If you weren’t an artist, what would you be?Baker? Dancer? Maybe a hairdresser, I always admired my mom shaping up people's hair in all kinds of shapes. I think all those things are a form of art too, so probably just a different kind of artist.
